Maintaining optimal humidity in quality control laboratories across India

For the past year, Condair has been building a strong relationship with the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) in India.

The FDDI, part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry run by the Indian Government is a prestigious organisation. They play a pivotal role in training the next generation of footwear designers, leather experts, fashion designers and accessories manufacturers. FDDI offer a range of courses across multiple campuses throughout India. FDDI also provides testing, quality control and R&D services to ensure that the India footwear and fashion industry is at the forefront of innovation

The climate in India is typically very changeable throughout the seasons and also between different parts of the country, so humidity control is critical to maintain a controlled environment across an organisation.

Condair RS resistive steam humidifiers and Condair DC condensing dehumidifiers have now been specified at multiple FDDI sites across India. Condair worked with FDDI to select the right products for the different locations to ensure they were neither under- or over-specified – simply ‘just right’ for the application and location of the facilities. This enables precise control of the relative humidity (RH) levels across the different quality control facilities, without which accurate, reliable testing and laboratory environments would not be possible. This ‘just right’ approach also ensures that electricity costs are kept at a minimum.

Mr Rajesh Verma from FDDI explained “Our experience [with Condair] was very good with a quick response from sales and technical teams for delivering the solution, understanding the problem in detail and installation of machines without any hassle.”

Rajesh continues “Precise RH throughout the year will help us to perform tests in the lab with [high levels of] accuracy”.
